Researchers Marvin Goldberg and Gerald Horn set out to test the impact of viewing ads on children.

Kids 4-5 years old were divided into groups and shown two videos. In the first, there was no advertisement at all, and the second was interrupted twice by an advertisement for a specific toy. The children were then shown photographs of two equally attractive boys. One was holding a newly advertised toy, but was described as "not a very good boy"; the second was empty-handed, but the children were told that "this is a very good boy."

Next, the young respondents were asked to answer which of these two boys they would like to make friends with. Of the group that was not shown an advertisement, with the owner of the coveted toy, only 30 percent of the children wanted to play, while in the second group, there were as many as 65 percent of those who wanted to play. The children were ready for anything to get a chance to play with the toy. And within us, exactly the same four-year-old children often wake up.
