All your life you will do stupid things, fight for meaningless goals, get involved with questionable companies, date the wrong girls and make other mistakes. What questions should you ask yourself before making any commitments, starting new goals or going towards a dream?

What does it mean to make a commitment and what does it mean to you? Making a commitment is making a commitment that must be fulfilled. This kind of action is akin to taking an oath or a promise to do something. But is it necessary to take on everything that will only take your time and energy? Maybe you should choose your commitments more carefully?

You will encounter things in life that would be better off. You make commitments too often by getting involved in shady affairs, interacting with toxic people, or starting unpromising relationships. You don’t have to make commitments that are not in your best interest, don’t make you happy, have no perspective, or make your future worse.

Should you commit? Ask yourself the following questions

1. Do you like the idea itself?

Often we start something that is not always really interesting to us. It may be the desire of friends, parents, acquaintances, but not your own. Why bother with something that doesn't make you want to fight for a goal? Don't really like work, business, profession, girl, company, occupation? Do not take upon yourself a commitment if it does not evoke a burning desire and fire in your eyes. Look for something really worth fighting for. Does the idea itself evoke fire in your soul and heart?

2. Is it in my best interest?

Often we settle for something that is not in our best interest. We agree to take on the obligations of other people to help them, or we are allowed to do so by our own interests. But how reasonable is that? Healthy selfishness allows you not to get involved in unnecessary and dubious matters. If something does not bring you benefits and prospects, then you definitely need to do it? Why waste resources on solving other people's problems or desires? Do people want to rake in the heat with someone else's hands or ride on someone else's neck? But this is not included in your plans?

3. How will this affect the future?

When we make any commitment, we rarely calculate our future. How will this affect later life? Calculate how your decision will affect you in the future. What will happen in a week, month, year or five years? If it’s not worth it, or makes the future worse, then it’s better to avoid it. Do something that will give good and interesting prospects in the future. Build your future now, and do not destroy it with rash actions.

4. What did you advise yourself from the outside?

What could be better than looking at the situation from the outside? Take a bird's eye view of the whole situation, as if you were not part of it. Do a sober analysis of the situation. Then give yourself some friendly advice. This can be very helpful.

5. What are the risks?

Sometimes the risks and dangers of getting involved in another business outweigh all the profits. Getting involved with a girl of dubious principles? Get involved in a business where they can throw on the grandmother? Choosing a job with few prospects? If the risks outweigh the rewards, why waste your time? Why take risks and expose yourself to unnecessary things?

6 Are you ready to make a commitment?

It often seems that you are knee-deep in the sea and you can do anything. But how ready are you to commit? Are you sure you are ready enough, strong and experienced? We often overestimate our strength, and then we are crushed by our self-confidence. Be realistic and soberly assess your capabilities. Don't try to take more than you can take, otherwise there will be no prospects for growth and happiness.

7. Is the target worth the resources and costs?

Sometimes the game is not worth the candle. Are you ready to spend a lot of time, energy, money and other resources on a questionable result? Is the goal worthy of the resources you will spend on it? If the reward, prize, profit or bonus is minimal, then is it worth doing? It is better to grab a crane than to get a tit. Dreams should be real and achievable, but rewarding. You need to spend time and energy on dreams that are worth all the effort.

Commitments should be made wisely. Always think before you do something. Don't waste all your time on empty things, but chase real dreams.
