Sometimes I am asked: "How do you plan your travels?" This question baffles me, to be honest. I don’t consider myself a traveler, so I’m unlikely to discover America for anyone.
Our first trip together was to Kazan. Then we still lived in Samara and it was the closest large city to us. We looked after a couple of hotels, wrote down their addresses and phone numbers and went to the station. Imagine our surprise when we found that the bus to Kazan runs 2 times a day, and we missed both flights. By the way, then we learned the first lesson: study the bus schedule carefully.
The second time we went to Odessa. This city ideally suited our conditions: abroad, but without a passport, the sea, a beautiful city. We booked the hotel on booking in advance. But with train tickets they dragged on to the last. As a result, we rode on the upper shelves in different compartments. Then we learned the second lesson: you need to buy tickets in advance.
And then we got foreigners, and away we go. In fact, I never had a dream to go to any particular country. Often, we determine the route by simply entering the required dates and the city of departure on skyscanner.ru, leaving the "where" column empty. Then the site gives out a list of countries with an increasing price of the flight, and you can find a very interesting offer. Then I learned about the existence of low-cost airlines, and here's the third lesson: monitor the websites of cheap airlines per share or even subscribe to newsletters.
In the next step, I plan my trip budget. That is, I set an approximate limit for spending money per day and try to adhere to it. Eighth lesson: do not go beyond your capabilities.
