Each of us appears in this world as a child endowed with unlimited abilities. However, many of these abilities remained unsolved. What about the future and your hopes for tomorrow?
“I want to say about what I think and feel today, but with the caveat that tomorrow, maybe, I will refute everything that I said” Ralph Waldo Emerson.
“I Always Have Great Expectations” by Robert Frost.
Opening your mind to everything and not getting attached to anything - it seems easy, but only until you think about the conventions that your life is full of. Much of your current thoughts are influenced by the area where your ancestors lived and their religious beliefs, by your nationality and the political beliefs of your parents, by your height, gender, the school you attended, and the activities of your family. And this is not a complete list. Each of us appears in this world as a child endowed with unlimited abilities. However, many of these abilities have remained untapped due to specially designed standard programs designed to make each of you fit into the cultural environment of your adult caregivers. It is unlikely that you had the opportunity to contradict the cultural and social structure of your life.
Some adults may have encouraged you to live with an open mind, however, if you are honest with yourself, you will see that your philosophy and religious beliefs, your way of dress and communication are the result of the influence of your social environment (and her culture), which clearly defined what is good and right for you. If you have ever tried to protest against this predetermined way of life, you have undoubtedly heard the harsh and insistent demands to return to the place and do everything as "it is supposed". It was then that you had to adapt to the conditions of the environment, suppressing the desire to open your mind to the perception of new ideas.
If your parents are Jewish, it is unlikely that they taught you to respect Muslims. The same is true otherwise. If your parents are Republicans, you probably haven't heard from them praising Democrats. But no matter what reasons forced our ancestors to adhere to narrow views, it is well known that in ancient times the world was not so densely populated as it is now. In today's overpopulated world, it is simply impossible to live up to the same old principles. I urge you to open your mind to every opportunity. Resist when someone tries to put a label on you, and don't let pessimism take over your mind. This is one of the basic principles through which you can find peace of mind and contribute to the strengthening of peace and well-being on earth.
Find an opportunity to observe a tiny sprout making its way towards the light. Be amazed at this sight. The great poet Rumi said, "Sell intelligence and buy fury." A sprout making its way out of the ground personifies the beginning of life. Nobody in the world knows how this is possible. Where does this creative impulse come from? And what is the observer, the observation process, consciousness and perception? Where did they come from? These questions about the miracles around us are endless.
Recently, according to the next space program, a small moving device was sent to Mars, controlled from the Earth by a remote control. Within ten minutes after the device was on Mars, invisible signals made the small Earth device turn in the right direction and take samples of Martian soil. We are amazed at the wonders of modern technology. But think for a moment: in the infinity of the universe, the motion of Mars, our closest neighbor, is like the motion of a billionth of an inch particle across the page you are reading! If you think about it, we are moving a tiny device around the park next to the house. But how proud we are of ourselves!
In our Galaxy alone, there are billions and billions of planets and stars, and there are countless such galaxies. The Earth looks like a speck of dust in the boundless spaces of the Universe. And if we imagine that we have reached the end of the universe … Maybe there is a wall? If so, who could have built this wall? And what's behind the wall? How thick is this wall?
How can you be a pessimist in a world we know so little about? The baby's heart begins to beat in the womb already a few weeks after conception. This amazing mystery is not able to unravel not a single person on our planet. Our knowledge, in comparison with what we have not known, hardly exceeds the knowledge of the embryo. This is something to keep in mind when faced with someone who is convinced that there is only one way to solve problems.
Don't be pessimistic. Fight pessimism with all your might, because compared to what we have yet to learn, our knowledge is so insignificant! Imagine what a pessimist who lived some two hundred years ago thought about the world in which we live now. We have electricity, airplanes, cars, televisions, cell phones. A pessimist could not imagine such a thing. And all this appeared thanks to the insights of an open mind, which determines the flowering of creativity and the growth of progress.
What about the future and your hopes for tomorrow? Will we be able to visit England in the XIV century, levitate, communicate with each other using telepathy, disintegrate into separate molecules and materialize again, but on another planet? Can we clone a sheep from a photo of a sheep? An open mind allows room for exploration, creativity, and growth. A closed mind prevents any creativity. Remember, progress would be impossible if nothing changed. The ability to perform real miracles appears when your mind is open and ready to use its limitless possibilities.
Do not allow yourself to expect negligible results from your activities. As Michelangelo said, the point is not that you set yourself too high goals and therefore cannot achieve them - the point is that they are not high enough and only therefore are impracticable. Imagine that there is a bright flame inside your being that burns regardless of any circumstances around you. This inner flame symbolizes your ability to perform miracles.
In each individual case, when a person is healed from an incurable disease or overcomes insurmountable obstacles, a complete revolution occurs in his inner world: he practically completely changes his attitude to reality. In order for real miracles to happen in your life, you must feel your connection with God. All scriptures say, "With God, everything is possible." Now tell me what prevents you from realizing this principle in your life? A mind open to everything means a state of peace, the gift of love, the ability to forgive and be generous, respect life and, just as important, the ability to realize everything in life that you desire with your heart. Understand that the universal law that has always worked miracles continues to work. It has never been canceled and will not be canceled. You have the same energy and the same Divine consciousness that are necessary to become a miracle worker. You just have to know yourself and sincerely believe in your strength.
Understand that your thoughts are reflected throughout your life. (“What a person thinks about, so he is.”) If your mind is full of doubts and closed, then these doubts will inevitably affect your actions, they will affect everything that surrounds you. But as soon as you decide to open your mind, your actions will begin to be controlled by the internal energy, and then you will be able to work miracles and be a witness to them. You will experience what Walt Whitman was talking about when he wrote: "Every cubic inch of space is a miracle."
Means everything to everything. With no exceptions. If you are presented with ideas that run counter to your usual notions, do not rush to declare that this is ridiculous and impossible. It is better to listen to them and tell them that you have never heard of this and that it is worth thinking about it. Try to listen without prejudice and understand other people's wildest ideas, projects, and perceptions. If someone claims that crystals can cure hemorrhoids, that the use of medicinal herbs can lower blood cholesterol levels, that someday people will learn to breathe under water or levitate, do not contradict, just listen with interest.
Let go of attachment to what you have been taught to believe. Open your mind to all possibilities, because whether you believe in something or not, you will be right anyway. How? What you become depends on your acceptance of reality and its possibilities. If you are convinced that you cannot get rich, achieve fame, become a great artist, singer or athlete, you will act in accordance with this inner conviction, and it will prevent you from fulfilling your desires. These kinds of beliefs are based on your attachment to ideas about the unchanging order of things in this world, devoid of miraculous changes.
The first secret has two parts. The first part deals with the mind, which is open to everything; the second part is about the mind, which is not attached to anything. All your problems arise from attachments. The need to prove that you are right, to win at any cost, to possess someone or something, or to make others believe you are superior to them are nothing more than attachments. An open mind renounces these attachments and in return achieves peace of mind and success.
To free yourself from attachment, you must look at yourself differently. If you are used to identifying yourself with your body and other property, then your life is initially guided by a sense of selfishness. Only by taming selfishness can you free your spirit and allow it to be your guide through life. After all, you are a being endowed with a spirit, and therefore you are able not to identify with your body, but to become a sympathetic observer of your being. Your spiritual essence is able to see the insignificance of all attachments, because our inner spiritual “I” is our immortal soul. Nothing on the outside can make you happy and prosperous. Your world is determined by the state of your soul.
If your mind is open and calm, then your feelings will be calm, and you will bring this calmness into all situations of life. If your inner peace and success depend on something external, and inwardly you are attached to your righteousness, your life will be a continuous striving for something - a striving doomed to failure.
You can literally be burning with desire and still not have attachment. You must clearly understand everything you are striving for, and at the same time, not be attached to the result. How to do it? Reflect on the saying from A Course in Miracles: "Infinite patience gives instant results." Sounds paradoxical, doesn't it? Infinite patience means complete confidence that whatever you desire will come true. The immediate result that you will get from this understanding will be a state of calm. If you are not attached to the result, you are calm and, in the end, achieve success.
Imagine being asked to choose one of two magic wands. Magic wand A can fulfill any of your material desires. Wand B is able to provide you with a state of inner peace for the rest of your days, regardless of the circumstances. Which one will you choose? The one that guarantees you material well-being, or the one that will give you peace for the rest of your life? If you prefer rest, consider that you already have bacillus B. Live with an open mind and don't get attached to anything. Let it all come and go. Enjoy everything that comes and goes, but don't let your happiness or success depend on attachment to any object, place, or person.
If you can love people so much that you allow each of them to make their own choices in life, without becoming attached to them or pinning your hopes on them, you will find true peace. To truly love a person means to love him as he is, not as you would like to see him. This is what it means to live with an open mind and without attachment.
