The first selection round of the New Names Belarus Fashion Week competition for young designers. Collections of modern clothes with elements inspired by Belarusian nature, history and culture.
On September 20, the first qualifying round of the New Names Belarus Fashion Week competition for young designers, traditionally held as part of the Fashion Week in Belarus, took place. The event took place on the territory of the loft project "Balki" and gathered under one roof young and ambitious designers who wanted to demonstrate their abilities to a professional jury.
Let us remind you that this season the project has a theme, and therefore the task of the participants has become more complicated. Following the motto “I love BFW, I love Belarus”, the designers had to present collections of modern clothes with elements inspired by the Belarusian nature, history and culture. At the same time, the proposed things had to satisfy the needs of fashionistas of the big city. This was important also because the general partner of the competition this season is the Navy trademark - a manufacturer of stylish and comfortable clothes for every day.
More than 30 applications were submitted for the competition, some designers offered 2 collections each. It should be noted that the competition was attended by participants from different cities of Belarus (Brest, Borisov, Baranovichi, Grodno, Vitebsk, Mozyr, Mogilev, Minsk), as well as from neighboring Ukraine. The scope of topics was quite wide, as well as the range of clothes: on the sketches one could see casual and cocktail dresses, and folk fantasy on the theme of jeans, and loose sundresses, and more austere models for cool weather.
Considering all of the above, the task of the jury was also difficult - but the real professionals in their field brilliantly coped with it. The jury of the sketch tour included:
Yanina Goncharova, Chairperson of the Belarusian Fashion Chamber;
Tratsevskaya Evgeniya - Director of Stetskevich Group of Companies;
Kostyuchenok Anna - creative director of NAVY;
Galina Yakovlevna Meshkova - Associate Professor of the Department of Modeling of Clothes and Artistic Weaving of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts.
As a result of the selection, the names of 14 participants were named, who made it to the next round. Here are their names:

The second stage - a pre-demonstration of the sewn models - will take place on November 1. At this stage, the jury will select the top 10 collections, as well as give advice to the participants on how to improve them. On November 16, the finalists will show their work on the podium of Belarus Fashion Week.
