Modern metrosexuals are becoming a thing of the past, giving way to a new phenomenon - sporesexuals. A new trend in the male world.
External attractiveness, both male and female, today is a kind of cult. And if for a woman the desire to be beautiful is quite natural, then men who watched their appearance with special care were treated with caution until recently. Modern dandies - metrosexuals - have become a common phenomenon and a norm of life. But their era is gradually coming to an end, giving way to a new phenomenon - sporesexuals.
Recently, a controversy has arisen over male beauty. The reason was the message that 50-year-old actor Brad Pitt became the most handsome and sexiest man of all time according to the edition of Harper's Bazaar. The collective opinion was divided: some considered it categorically wrong to evaluate a man in terms of beauty. Supposedly, a man should be characterized by other qualities, for example, such as reliability, purposefulness, masculinity. Others argued that external attractiveness plays a decisive role in the modern world, therefore beauty is a rather significant bonus in the piggy bank of other masculine qualities.

Who is the sweetest in the world
It is believed that the term "metrosexual" was coined by British journalist Mark Simpson in 1994. Either he was inspired by the film "Sex and the City", in which the heroines are surprised to talk about the mass hobby of men for fashion, cosmetics, psychology. Either I was impressed by the It’s a Man’s World exhibition organized by GQ magazine. But in his article in The Independent, for the first time, the neologism that arose as a result of the crossing of the words "metropolitan" and "heterosexual" sounded. The term did not catch on right away, but only 8 years later, when the same Simpson decided to make the then popular Manchester United player David Beckham an icon of metrosexuals.

In 2002, metrosexuals became a kind of new trend in a world where virtually everything is bought and sold. Metrosexuals are often confused with yuppies. The latter strive to occupy a dominant position in society. They are equally sensitive to both their appearance and their careers. They prefer beautiful women, expensive cars and luxury vacations. But the main criterion for being a yuppie is business success. The metrosexual, in turn, is only interested in himself. He can be an average worker, but he can spend all his wages on expensive clothes and cosmetics.
What changed?
It is impossible to say that something has changed dramatically. But it is already possible to talk about the formation of a new trend. The same Simpson believes that metrosexuals have already been replaced by a new generation of modern men, the so-called spornoseksuals.
This neologism consists of words such as sports, porn, and sex. Men, who can be united by this term, do not focus on clothing, but on their body, its beauty and attractiveness. Moreover, they actively "promote" themselves beautiful in social networks. Endless selfies from the gym, shower, bedrooms show a man in all his glory. What previously could only be seen by a select few (girlfriends, wives) is now seen by everyone.
The narcissism of spornosexuals is off the charts: narcissism has reached a critical point. It is important for them to be evaluated through numerous likes, comments and other means of encouragement. Some see this as a potential danger or signs of some kind of disorder. Others urge not to dramatize the situation, arguing that this is a new form of communication.

With regard to intellectual capabilities, this is not at all what the sporesexual would like (or could) demonstrate. But this is, indeed, a problem. The Italian psychoanalyst Massimo Recalcati wrote in his recent article that people have already stopped photographing the world, which serves them only as a decoration. Feeling worthless, they become more and more obsessed with narcissism. And regular selfies are a modern way to inflate self-importance, according to researchers Laura Buffardi and Keith Campbell, as they wrote in their study published in Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin.
Among the new icons of sporesexuals, there are more athletes, actors of porn films, and not actors of Hollywood. Among them are Cristiano Ronaldo, former rugby player Tom Evans, the same David Beckham, TV series actor Dan Osborne and many others. A beautiful male body is wonderful, but still everything is good in moderation!

Fedor Schmidt, photographer
- What gives a man his beautiful body, and especially his public demonstration?
- It is quite obvious that this gives a demonstration of your health and strength, which in our time is more the exception than the rule. Also, according to such photographs, one can judge the emancipation and often sexuality of a person. As for narcissism, it is often less present.

Of course, your question about the concept of "spornosexual" became a discovery for me today, but if you think about it, then I just did not know the definition of what has already entered our life, or rather on the pages of our social networks.
Recently, we increasingly see pumped up guys who are passionate about taking pictures of themselves. Previously, we could observe such men somewhere on the beaches, but then they did not take pictures of themselves, but simply walked gracefully between women's bodies and looked with a peripheral vision, who and how they looked at them and how they evaluated them. Now the time has changed a little, and our whole life has been transferred to social networks and in photos. And male narcissism has found its embodiment in the "selfie", only now everything is measured not by women's views somewhere on the beach, but by the number of likes and comments.
What does it do? The sporesexual just wants to be constantly desired and be in the center of someone's attention, even if it doesn't matter whose. In such an uncomplicated way, he can be in sight for as long as 24 hours a day and 12 months a year, and every change in the relief will be assessed and most likely positively.

According to my observations, it was male athletes and trainers who became sporty. The thing is that it was the guys of these professions who were deprived of attention, because the actors "traded" their faces, businessmen and successful men demonstrated their clothes and grooming. Over time, this new wave will overwhelm many men. I only hope that it will be beautiful and we will have something to admire!
