Press conference dedicated to Industrial Collections Day at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

From 25 to 31 October 2013, Moscow will host the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia. More than 70 designers from Russia, Great Britain, Japan, Israel and other countries will show their collections for the spring-summer 2014 season, among them: Slava Zaitsev, Alena Akhmadullina, Tatyana Parfenova, Igor Chapurin, Yulia Dalakyan, Masha Kravtsova, Svetlana Tegin, Yulia Nikolaeva, Maria Golubeva, Yanina Vekhteva and others.

On October 22, a press conference dedicated to Industrial Collections Day at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia was held with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, which was held at the ITAR-TASS press center. The speakers at the press conference were Viktor Evtukhov (Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation), Alexander Shumsky (President of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia), Alena Akhmadullina and Slava Zaitsev.

Viktor Yevtukhov opened a press conference dedicated to the Day of Industrial Collections: “The reason that united us today certainly deserves attention, the Ministry of Industry and Trade presents the Day of Industrial Collections within the framework of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia. It is important to note that for the first time at the Haute Couture Week, along with famous brands, Russian serial industrial production will be presented, that is, the products of the light industry of our factories and enterprises, and we very much hope that domestic designers will meet with our manufacturing companies and establish good contact. It is very important for us that our designers, not only famous, but also those who are just embarking on this path, find application for their talents in creating wardrobe for a wide range of consumers. The events that will take place within the framework of the Industrial Collections Day should become a good start for the development of Russian fashion with the “Made in Russia” quality mark. Many countries are accustomed to the fact that they can find high-quality domestic goods anywhere in the world, and they would not want Russia to be "on the sidelines" in this regard. Our task is to form such an industrial policy so that it would be profitable in Russia to sew products at Russian factories from domestic fabrics for the Russian consumer. We would like us to create high-quality products for the middle class, so that the situation changes and this must be achieved by promoting Russian goods and helping Russian designers."

Alexander Shumsky, President of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia, continued: “Recently, I have often heard phrases that there is no production in Russia, that you need to sew in Italy, and so on. In fact, the situation is different from such pessimistic conversations. What we want to demonstrate on October 25 at the Manezh is the first step towards showing that designer clothes can also be affordable and of high quality. I think what we have to do all together is to break stereotypes. What has been done in Russia can be of high quality and good. At Fashion Week, we always gather the best Russian designers and understand that what Russian designers lack is access to a large audience. Now, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, designers can start working more systematically, because capsule collections are not a new topic. It seems to me that our designers could use their talent to make our manufacturers sew better and more interesting clothes. I hope that we can continue this story next year and will develop it."

After supporting the conversation about industrial production, Vyacheslav Zaitse spoke about what he is doing now: “In addition to clothing collections, I am currently making collections of bed linen and ceramics, as well as umbrellas and bags. The collection that I will present at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia is very funny, interesting and controversial. I will start with the dresses I made for the teachers - these are adorable black dresses that can be complemented with accessories and be fashionable and beautiful every day. I would like to thank the Ministry of Industry and Trade for their help in creating an industrial collection."
