Erection problems? More than anything, men are afraid of impotence. See a cardiologist.
More than anything, men are afraid of impotence. After all, a good erection is not just a sign of sexual health, it is also a source of pride, a clear proof of male strength, this is the main component of the very definition of "man". Having suffered several failures in bed, a man experiences a fear of becoming impotent, which develops into a real phobia.
A man loses peace, sleep, he develops depression. And only 13% of men turn to doctors for help, while the rest suffer in silence - alone with their complexes and prejudices. But the level of modern medicine is high enough to help the vast majority of men cope with this ailment. And this is one of the reasons why the term "impotence" has practically disappeared from the lexicon of doctors, since it means a condition in which nothing can be helped. It was replaced by the diagnosis "erectile dysfunction", the name of which already sounds less threatening and implies a certain reversible process.
According to various sources, the incidence of erectile dysfunction in adult men ranges from 15-50%. The main cause of its occurrence is not psychogenic factors, as was previously thought, but a number of somatic diseases, and diseases of the cardiovascular system (coronary heart disease and arterial hypertension) account for 75% of all causes of erectile dysfunction. This is explained by the commonality of developmental mechanisms and risk factors for these two, at first glance, different pathologies.

Men who are exposed to stress and lead a sedentary lifestyle, smokers, alcohol abusers, overweight, high blood cholesterol, diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure risk both cardiovascular diseases and erectile dysfunction. All these reasons play a key role in the development of atherosclerosis of all large and medium arteries, as a result of which their lumen is narrowed by atherosclerotic plaques. As a result, blood flow is disturbed, including to the cavernous bodies of the penis, which are responsible for the occurrence and retention of an erection.
This knowledge allows us to understand that erectile dysfunction is often reversible and allows us to cope with this problem by actively working on its cause. It is very important that the urologist (sex therapist) and the cardiologist deal with the treatment of erectile dysfunction together, regulating all possible links of both pathological processes.
After failing once, do not withdraw into yourself. Feel free to talk about your sexual failures to doctors. The sooner the cause of erectile dysfunction is identified and its treatment is started, the more likely a positive effect on the therapy, the more realistic the chance to ensure sexual health for many years. It is strongly not recommended to independently prescribe to yourself well-advertised drugs to increase potency. After all, it is important not only to provide yourself with a one-time erection, but by acting on the cause of the underlying disease, to completely restore the lost function. In addition, in a number of patients, these drugs can cause a number of negative reactions, the occurrence of which can only be foreseen by a specialist.
