At one of the lectures, a professor giving a course in sociology said that absolutely all people are egoists and cited exactly eight points to prove this, according to which any action or deed can be justified as the most, that neither is selfish. I will not describe these eight points, this is the topic of his doctoral work, I will only write about what thoughts his words prompted me to.
Each of you, dear readers, probably at least once in your life heard the phrase: “You are an egoist !!! You only think about yourself! " Let's think about how to interpret this. As a compliment or as something worth thinking about, and maybe even working on yourself, towards, for example, developing a feeling of some kind of self-sacrifice? While we will think about how to answer this question, we will talk with you about those who can or have already stated to us that we are egoists. This person, for sure, feels like an ardent helper and first friend for everyone who needs support. This comrade also feels intelligent and well-mannered. All this, of course, may be the qualities of his character, BUT he completely forgot that he does all this and even makes sacrifices (paradox) only and only because he himself gets something from it. Even the fact that they will thank him and say some pleasant words about him is an indicator that the little man has worked hard in order to please himself, just in some way, in this way. And so, if you have any other example proving that in an act or in some action or thought there is not a single even the smallest drop of selfishness, you can write a letter to MENSBY magazine and sign that it is addressed to me and then in the next article I will definitely answer it for you!

And when some sales agent or business partner eloquently offers us something specially or just for us, we treat it with special attention. Here interest also turns on (what was it they came up with special for me?), And also alertness turns on (for example, because subconsciously we feel that he is up to something). In fact, naturally, no one will do anything without their own benefit! This is all, of course, understandable. But why say that only today, and only for your sake, we are taking such and such steps. We ourselves know that no one will take any steps for our sake without profit, but the moment we hear: “This is for you” addressed to us, we instantly melt and lose our vigilance.
