How to choose a diet? Health risks are not the only motivation for men to lose weight. Men are not indifferent to their appearance.
Among Bill Clinton's post-presidential endeavors, one of the most shocking is his campaign to tame the rise in childhood obesity trends in the United States. It is notable for its unselfish desire to help society as well as its great potential for achieving planned results. But the event that attracts the most attention and elicits mixed feelings of excitement was a public speech by a representative of the "indifferent to diet" gender about giving up cheeseburgers.
Diets aren't just for women - Men lose weight too
After recovering from a serious heart surgery in 2004, in the past the main lover of a quick bite at McDonald's, Bill Clinton became too frank about his attitude to food, frank not only in the sense of the former president of the country as a world hegemon, but also in the most general contextual sense of the word. “As a child, I was a fat man,” he writes in his book “My Life” (a heavy volume, ironically weighing about one and a half kilograms).
In the book, he discusses the fluctuations in his weight and admits that at one time he experimented with various types of homemade simple diets, preceding the very famous Atkins diet (in Eastern Europe, better known as Hollywood). The author told reporters for the New York Times that he is weighed daily. It is not strange that in the shadow of the well-known first American black president, Bill Clinton risks becoming the first American female ex-president.

Indeed, the huge world of dietary nutrition in all ages has belonged exclusively to the gentle sex. It so happened historically that the kingdom of the Kremlin diet, nutrition by blood type, multi-grain breakfast cereals and low-fat yogurt was carefully hidden from skeptical views of men, but lately, representatives of the stronger sex are increasingly crossing the border of the primordially female territory.
Nutritionists have noticed that men have become much more attentive to their health, and especially to weight, since an excess of the latter is a hallmark of diabetes and diseases of the cardiovascular system.
Diet and masculinity
It's no secret that health risks as a consequence of poor nutrition are not the only motivation for men to lose weight. It turns out that they are also not indifferent to their appearance.
Modern men of all ages are more and more concerned about the state of their figure, as their previously impeccable bodies lose their shape and become disproportionate. Therefore, frequent visits to gyms, the use of anabolic steroids in food and, more and more often, special diets by men are completely natural.
But it is worth noting that the representatives of the stronger sex, as a rule, do not "sit" on a diet. Realizing that such actions somewhat spoil the image of a respectable man, they often avoid talking on this topic, and also try to present their actions in the most favorable light for them. This is expressed, for example, in terms used by men. They do not say "I am on a diet" or "I need to lose weight" as these expressions do not correspond to their solid status as a masculine sex. They strive for physical strength, for which they need muscle mass. And the word "diet" not only sounds too feminine, but also threatens the loss of that very muscle mass in the process of losing weight.

In this case, what motives and arguments are guided by men, preferring a correct and healthy diet? They want to be physically strong and visually attractive. As the rapidly growing profits of mineral and nutritional supplement manufacturers confirm, it is the desire for a beautiful body, endurance and muscle mass that drives men to eat healthy and wholesome foods. If the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, then the way to his stomach is through his biceps.
Men's Comfort Zone - How to Choose a Diet?

Men prefer diets that promise effective exercise and energy gain
The dietary supplement market is rife with proposals for those looking to gain muscle mass with a minimum of fat. But it's important to remember that protein shakes on their own won't do the trick. A person gets a sufficient amount of protein from food, and muscle building can only be done with the help of correctly constructed and systematically attended workouts. There is no other way.
Indeed, when men enter the dietary supplement department, they often feel lost. But there are much more pleasant places for a pleasant pastime! One has only to go to a restaurant and order a large fish steak prepared without the addition of hot marinades and fatty sauces.
But even such seemingly trifling deprivations cause resentment in men, and they continue to seek a solution that would require minimal sacrifice and would bring maximum effect. That is why many people opt for the so-called "Hollywood" diet (nutrition according to Dr. Atkins' scheme).

This diet is based on the principle that excessive consumption of carbohydrates (carbohydrates) is the main cause of obesity and fat deposition in the body. By limiting their consumption to 20 grams per day, a person stimulates his body to break down "unclaimed" fats for energy production, thus rapidly losing extra pounds. Dr. Atkins' plan is designed for life and consists of two phases: reducing, which is 14 days, and supportive, which lasts for the rest of your life. The Hollywood Diet “permits” all types of meat, fish, poultry, seafood, eggs, cheese, some vegetables and all other non-carbohydrate foods to be consumed in unlimited quantities. You will have to give up bakery products, sweets, potatoes and fruits.
Undoubtedly, pork steak looks much more "masculine" than fruit salad. This is why most of the stronger sex uses Dr. Atkins' uncompromising approach
Nevertheless, many experts strongly oppose the use of this scheme, since a lack of carbohydrates can negatively affect health. The debate about the effect of the Hollywood diet on the body has been going on since its inception until today. Research is systematically carried out, the most recent of which was at Stanford. According to its results, women who ate according to the Atkins scheme lost excess weight as effectively as possible (in comparison with the use of other types of diets), in addition, there was a noticeable decrease in blood cholesterol levels and blood pressure indicators that were as close to normal as possible.

Despite the more than positive data obtained in the course of a study conducted with the participation of exclusively female representatives, leading experts at Stanford University advise neither women nor men to perceive its results as an undeniable refutation of arguments against the Hollywood diet and immediately begin to use it. Such caveats are related to the short-term nature of the study, since the observation was conducted over a period of only twelve months. Dietitians cannot guarantee that there will be no negative health impacts on the health of a person following this high-fat and protein-rich diet throughout their lives. In addition, they argue that avoiding foods that contain complex carbohydrates is too much of a loss for a healthy body. Fruits and grains do not pose a global threat to firm thighs and flat stomachs. What really increases the consumption of "unclaimed" calories is white bread, sweet pastries, white rice, soda and synthetic foods from cheap fast foods. Therefore, you should not exclude vegetables, oatmeal, brown rice and pasta from coarse wheat from the diet.
Tips for Losing Weight Men - How to Avoid Diet Mistakes It is not always enough to know by heart the number of calories in food. Even the one who most conscientiously and carefully follows any of the diets and reluctantly gnaws carrots instead of the desired salad with mayonnaise, sometimes he is not able to resist the force of circumstances or to cope with momentary weakness. Frequent business trips or vacation travel, for example, can interfere with dietary goals. Outside of the home environment, it is very easy to lose vigilance or give in to an impulsive urge to break a strict regimen. Therefore, it is important to learn how to eat well while on the road. On the plane, for example, you can take a package of instant oatmeal with you - the flight attendants will kindly provide the passenger with a plate and boiling water. If you have absolutely no desire to mess around even with "instant" cereals, an alternative solution would be a box of multi-grain flakes with fruit additives.

To maintain muscle tone after a long bus ride or an inconvenient flight, a short walk to the hotel, or a room booked on the sixth floor, where you can climb the stairs, and not the elevator, will help.
As for the unforgivable mistakes when dieting at home, the most common is the refusal to eat breakfast. Over time, this becomes a habit. Nutritionists warn: if the first meal is at lunchtime, the body tends to store fat "in reserve", since during sleep the body is in "fasting mode". Spending five minutes in the morning on a plate of mite-rich porridge or a trivial cheese sandwich can prevent this unpleasant outcome.
And the last thing. If the elimination of any product from the diet is an insurmountable difficulty, you just need to divide the usual portion of the usual food in half. Such a decision will soon have a pleasant effect on the wallet, and the results of an insignificant "sacrifice" can be observed on the electronic scale sensor.
