The combination of more than 4000 toxic elements, ingested by smoking, gives a smell that can knock even a skunk off your feet.
Bad breath occurs as a result of the growth of bacteria in the oral cavity, the waste product of which is a sulfur compound.
Causes of bad breath
These bacteria are anaerobic and need oxygen to live. The accumulation of white plaque on the teeth reduces the oxygen content in the oral cavity and, as a result, bacteria growth and bad odor. This is why it is so important to follow the rules of hygiene, to properly brush your teeth and all that.
The bacteria that cause bad odor feed on proteins. You cannot remove proteins from your diet, and this is not required. In addition to meat, there are, however, other foods that provide food for bacteria or create a favorable environment for their growth, namely:
Alcohol
Has a dehydrating effect, dries out the oral cavity sufficiently, slowing down the production of saliva, thereby creating an excellent environment for bacteria to grow.
Dairy products
Cheese and other dairy products are high in protein, making an excellent food material not only for our body, but also for bacteria that create unpleasant odors.
Sugar
Carbohydrates, when broken down, create an acidic environment favorable for bacterial growth.
Garlic
Garlic contains a lot of sulfur-containing compounds, so it not only gives bad breath, but also imparts a more unpleasant odor to sweat.
Smoking
Smoking dehydrates the body and dries out the oral cavity, creating an environment for bacteria to grow. In addition, the combination of more than 4000 toxic elements that enter the oral cavity when smoking, in itself, gives a smell that can knock even a skunk off his feet.
How to deal with bad breath

Water
A glass or two of water after a meal can help freshen your breath. How? Water removes the remaining pieces of food, stimulates the production of saliva, normalizes the alkaline-acid balance in the oral cavity.
Chlorophyll
It is an effective external deodorant and breath freshener. Can be taken in liquid or capsule form. In the absence of chlorophyll, several sprigs of parsley can be used.
Sugar Free Chewing Gum
Refreshes breath. The lack of sugar inhibits the growth of bacteria.
Spices
Some spices have been known since ancient times for their deodorant properties: fennel, cloves, anise, cardamom, peppermint, cardamom. They can be used to create gargle infusions, or simply by putting a few pieces in your mouth and chewing.
If you want to check how your breath smells, then the old way to exhale into your palms will not help you, since we get used to our smell and do not notice many nuances. It's best not to be ashamed and ask someone close to you to rate your breath.
Finally, I would like to note that the use of mouthwash to combat bad odor is not always effective. The strong smell of the liquid interrupts the unpleasant odor for a while, but the alcohol contained in the product dries out the oral cavity, reducing salivation, which promotes the growth of bacteria. Mouthwash does not solve the problem, but masks it for a while. You should not use it regularly, as this can only aggravate the situation. When buying mouthwash, make sure it is antibacterial or contains chlorine dioxide (dioxide).
