Lack of hair and how to deal with it. Over the past few years, the number of bald people in Russia has slightly decreased.

No, nobody opened the hunting season for them. It's just that technologies that make it possible to restore hair are quite widespread. At least in large Russian cities.

The question often arises: is it possible to use hair from other parts of the body to "seed" the head?

How to deal with baldness?

There are from 100 to 150 thousand hair follicles on the human head. At the same time, blondes and blondes have much more of them than brunettes with brunettes. People with red hair have the least follicles.

1. The easiest, but, unfortunately, not the most radical way to get rid of baldness is to put on a wig. However, it has much more minuses than pluses, so let's leave the wigs to pop and film artists.

2. Another method is to rub something into the scalp in the hope of not only preserving what is left, but also dramatically increasing the overall hairiness. Folk remedies are not a panacea, and few people in their right mind and clear memory can be forced to put a mask of coffee grounds on their heads or pour themselves with burdock oil. Note that these are still the most harmless recipes.

You can ask for help from pharmacological drugs … But here you need to be careful. On the problem of baldness, many not entirely honest people tried to warm their hands. There are a lot of funds that promise lush hair almost a month after application, but little sense.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has only approved two medicines for the treatment of hair loss: Minoxidil and Finasteride. Until recently, they were sold in Russian pharmacies strictly according to the doctor's prescription.

If it says on the box that the drug is made according to the ancient Aztec formula, accidentally discovered in the corner of the pyramid by a doctor such and such, you should know - you trite make a fool.

In any case, you should not choose the treatment yourself. It is necessary to consult a dermatologist, and preferably a trichologist. It is he who deals with hair problems. The doctor will assess the condition and type of your skin and recommend the one that is really suitable.

3. A radical way to combat hair loss - hair transplant (transplant).

Synthetic hair

Although in some clinics they are still transplanted, in decent places this technique is not used. There are a lot of complications after the implantation of a foreign body into the skin, which is synthetic hair. It takes root badly, the loss of artificial hair is up to 30 percent per year.

The only option in which the transplantation of synthetics is justified: a person no longer has any vegetation of its own, suitable for transplantation, on the head.

Natural hair

Autotransplantation (transplanting your own hair) is today considered the most progressive method of getting rid of baldness. Oddly enough, we owe its appearance not to new technologies of the 21st century, as one might think.

The first hair transplant was described by a Japanese dermatologist Okuda in 1939. Unfortunately, the doctor died during the Second World War, and doctors returned to the issue of autotransplantation only in the 1950s.

By now, the transplant technique has been developed to such an extent that the hair can be transplanted one by one. Moreover, in the new place they grow no worse than in the old one.

Grow hair big and small

For autologous transplantation, many techniques are used, but the essence is the same for all: hair from the donor area (most often the back of the head plays its role) is transplanted to the problem (bald) area. That is, not exactly hair, but grafts - specially prepared areas of the skin with hair follicles (several pieces). As a rule, from 200 to 2000 grafts are transplanted in one session.

Only 50 percent of the scalp contains hair follicles. In this case, most often the hair grows in small groups, while single hairs are quite rare.

The most difficult stage of the operation is not the transplant, but the preparation of the material for this very transplant. The outcome of the entire treatment depends on how well the hair follicles are prepared and how viable they are.

One of the first - 10 years ago - hair transplantation in Russia was taken up by the Reat Trans Hair (R. T. H.) clinic. Among other well-known institutions in this area is the Inteko Clinic, which has been working on this problem for 8 years. The cost of the operation ranges from $ 1,500 to $ 9,000 and depends on the number of grafts transplanted.

The first stage of the operation: from where there is a lot of hair (donor area), a flap of skin is cut out. Long and narrow. It is thinly chopped into strips of 1500 to 2000 follicles, then divided into pieces of 1-4 follicles. Excess skin is removed. The process of obtaining a graft is performed under a microscope.

Second phase - mini-incisions are made on the bald head and the resulting grafts are placed in them. If everything is done correctly, trauma is minimal and there are practically no traces on the skin. Only in the donor area will a small suture be visible.

It is important to understand that the amount of hair on the head before and after the operation remains the same. The effect is achieved by redistributing the hairline.

The question often arises: is it possible to use hair from other parts of the body to "seed" the head? In theory, this is possible. For the surgeon, by and large, it makes no difference where to get the material.

There is only one "but" … Hair elsewhere on the body usually differs significantly from hair on the head. They are shorter, thicker and tend to curl. For some people, the differences are not so striking - for them, such a transplant is sometimes an option, provided that the donor zone has sufficient hairiness.
